Start to the new school year

September becomes the second busiest months for AfA – after April with the World Autism Awareness Day as main reason. In September the new school year starts welcoming a number of new children with autism in inclusive classes. In Vientiane 3 children enrolled in grade 1 bringing the total number of kids in primary school to 14, accompanied by 4 teachers. Two children are learning at Phia Wat Secondary School, supported by one teacher. But also the new center in Pakse made huge progress. There 3 children join inclusive classes currently supported by two teachers.
But not only school is keeping us busy. September 27th is celebrated as Lao National Disability Day. This year groups of children participated in two big events organised on this occasion. First a big group performed at the Special Arts Festival for People with Disabilities on September 24th at VIS and starting September 27th our small dance group entertained visitors during the Disability Fair 2017 at ITECC. AfA and VAC staff offered products of VAC to show the abilities of our teenagers and raise some money for the coming events. The biggest will be the Disability Inclusive Sports for Tomorrow competition 7.-8.10. in Bangkok/Thailand.
